The challenge

TikTok needed to establish its presence at fashion’s biggest night while simultaneously engaging its creator community and celebrating the platform’s role in fashion and culture. The challenge was twofold: deliver a VIP experience for high-profile guests while creating an immersive watch party experience that captured the magic of the event for creators and guests unable to attend the main event.

Approach

We hosted a full table of Met Gala guests at The Mark Hotel, where hair, makeup, and glam professionals prepared TikTok’s CEO, Charli XCX, and Ashley Graham for the red carpet. Private transfers were scheduled to deliver each guest to the Met Gala perfectly timed for photo calls. Simultaneously, we transformed The Refinery Rooftop into TikTok’s Creative Watch Party under the open glass roof overlooking the Empire State Building. Twenty-two creators received hotel packages at The Refinery Hotel and luxury transfers, while over 120 guests enjoyed eight screens live-streaming the red carpet, creator spaces with branded photo opportunities, and a pink rose meadow echoing the Met Gala’s Secret Garden theme. Personalised silk sleep masks, a pop-up TikTok Shop, and fashion artist illustrations completed the immersive experience, all anchored by our strategy: Embrace, Educate, Engage, Elevate, Entertain, and Excite.

Result

The dual-activation approach successfully positioned TikTok at the intersection of high fashion and digital culture.
