Identity held our annual summer BBQ on Friday 20th July at The Saffrons Sports Grounds in Eastbourne. The afternoon included lots of lovely food and drink, an exciting treasure quest and the annual croquet tournament.

To kick the afternoon off, we started with the wonderful BBQ lunch, washed down with beers and wine. After this, Identity’s Managing Director Michael Gietzen delivered a speech celebrating Identity’s successes over 2018 so far, as well as the company goals for the next financial year.

In true British summer tradition, it of course was raining – but we didn’t let that stop us when it came to the afternoon activities!

Our 3D Designer Simon Taylor put together a brilliant and tricky quest for the staff to complete in small teams. The riddles and clues were hidden around the grounds, making up a final anagram to solve.

We then held a raffle to raise funds towards our overall charity goal for our partnered charities Raystede Welfare Centre for Animals and Children with Cancer Fund. The raffle included some great prizes (many alcohol related!) and we raised another £65 to put towards our year target.

Although the rain didn’t hold off, we still were determined to hold our annual Identity croquet tournament, kindly run by the volunteers at the Compton Croquet Club. They taught us the basics of the game, guiding us as the tournament commenced. We each partnered up and competed against each other, moving along the pitches each time.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, but there could only be one winning team. Congratulations to Jo and Tony who conquered us all!

The afternoon carried on into the evening, where the whole team at Identity had a few more drinks and laughs and enjoyed the rest of the day.

Despite the weather, Identity had another very successful BBQ, celebrating our achievements of the 2018 so far and having lots of fun competing in lots of activities – we are already excited for the 2019 Summer BBQ!
